NYC food prices are cooked. But there are still a few ways to eat a real meal without dropping $20. Here are 3 that are actually worth it this week.
NY Dosas — Washington Square Park
This cart has been sitting at 50 Washington Square South for years and somehow people still sleep on it. The Masala Dosa is $8, the Special Pondicherry is $9, and both come with sambar and coconut chutney so it actually fills you up. If you've never been, that's your assignment this week.
Too Good To Go
You reserve a "Surprise Bag" of unsold food from local spots like cafes, bakeries, restaurants, for usually half price or less. You don't get to pick exactly what's in it but honestly the value makes up for it. Bags go fast on weekends so check the night before if you're planning around it.
Trader Joe's
Not a secret but people forget how far $10 goes there. The frozen Mandarin Orange Chicken is $5.99 and genuinely one of the better frozen meals in the city at that price. Grab a bag of their frozen rice on the side for another $2 and you've got a full meal for under $8. No app, no wait, no line.
Prices and Too Good To Go bags change daily so worth checking before you head out.
See you next week. The Loop NYC
